11 Questions with Franco Furtero of Cholo Dogs
You can’t deny people are awesome. Who doesn’t like sitting down with good friends to ask them interesting, insightful, and funny questions? That’s what 11 Questions is about. I’ll be featuring some friends I look up to as well as people within the Orlando community I’ve always wanted to get to know by asking them 11 Questions (go figure) and doing a fun commercial or lifestyle photoshoot with them
It’s not every day you get to meet your underground indie wrestling idol. While not a man of many words, Franco is indeed a man of great passion and determination. In order to not reveal his secret identity I was ushered into an unmarked Lyft and whisked away to his secret training sanctum. Once inside I was surrounded by championship belts, Mexican-bred dachshunds, and wieners. It was heaven. Franco showed me his training regimen and his sick wheels. And while I left knowing the secret handshake…I still don’t know who Franco actually is.
Who do you look up to?
Pat Garrity formerly of the Orlando Magic because I've never seen a silkier 3 ball than the Ivory Irishman.
Favorite book?
The Great and Mighty Nikko. This book inspires me to put on the mask every day.
What’s your favorite place to eat in Orlando?
Other than Cholo Dogs, La Gordita Loca, order the Tamales with a side of hot sauce.
If you could mate two different species of animals what would they be?
A Persian house cat and an electric eel. BZZZ BZZZ. Because this is an animal that is classy with a little kick.
Who in your life has inspired you?
My Grandfather Miggy. next question. this makes me emotional.
What are you proud of?
My 1983 World Wrestling Championship win versus the purple Dino. Half of the mothers in my hometown of Oaxaca were there. They all asked for my hand in marriage. I declined and went home with my championship belt instead. I would never betray my countrymen.
What rejuvenates you?
Throwing someone off the top rope after they called me fat.
Is there anything you haven't done yet which you feel compelled to do?
Taking a relaxing bath in while a mariachi band plays to me in its entirety the Shania Twain album Come on Over, which features the hit song. Man, I feel like a woman.
How do you balance your personal and professional life?
My personal and professional life is so blurred I do not know where one begins and where one ends.
How do you hope to be remembered?
As the greatest Ween Slinger of all time and as the man or woman who defeated Joey Chesnut COUNTLESS TIMES.
If you were to choose a different career what would it be?
A cobbler. Because then I can always know what it is like to walk in your shoes.
