As an Orlando based commercial and lifestyle photographer who often splits his time between Tampa and Orlando, it’s nice when I get to stay home for a project. I hit up more carnivals and fairs last year than I ever have before and I’ve got the photos to prove it. It’s been fun to see this series evolve over 10 years. In the beginning I was just going out, shooting willy-nilly, without any real objective. But the beautiful thing about pursuing a photo project over the long haul is you really hone in on what and why you’re taking photos. I’m at the point where I will see an opportunity and wait for it (either the right person or the right light), or I’ll pass on a photo because I know it just won’t fit within this body of work, or I’ll take more chances because I know it’ll pay off.
